Prospects for a Better Future: Education for Sustainable Development
Nowadays, it is a widely accepted discussion among academic circles that Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) is a key enabler for UN Sustainable Development Goals, but it would also be a key for the world to prepare for potential crises such as Climate Change. Contrary to this conviction, what comes to a critical mind would be questions which strive for an accurate answer revolving around what urged humanity to launch Sustainable Development, then to set SDGs, and eventually to redefine education as ESD. This talk will attempt to answer these questions both by touching upon writer’s personal experiences and by putting for the history about human awakening on the necessity for a Sustainable Development which would accentuate the roles of future generations as change-makers and since they stand as hope for the future.

Daha İyi Bir Gelecek İçin Perspektifler: Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma İçin Eğitim
Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma için Eğitim (SKA), BM Sürdürülebilir Kalkınma Hedeflerinin (SKH) gerçekleştirilmesi için kilit bir unsur olmakla birlikte, iklim değişikliği gibi potansiyel krizlere hazırlık için de önemli bir rol oynayacağı akademik çevrelerde yaygın olarak kabul gören bir konudur. Bu kapsamda, eleştirel bir bakış açısıyla, insanlığı Sürdürülebilir Kalkınmayı başlatmaya, ardından SKH’lerini belirlemeye ve nihayetinde eğitimi SKA olarak yeniden tanımlamaya iten şeyin ne olduğu sorusu akla gelmektedir. Bu konuşma hem yazarın kişisel deneyimlerine değinerek hem de insanlığın Sürdürülebilir Kalkınmanın gerekliliğine dair uyanışının tarihini ele alarak bu soruları yanıtlamaya çalışacak ve gelecek nesillerin değişim yaratıcıları olarak rollerini ve geleceğe dair umutlarını vurgulayacaktır.
