Notice — English Proficiency Requirements (Senate Decision, 11 November 2025)
Candidates applying to graduate programs who, as of the date of application, fall within the last four semesters and meet either of the following conditions will not be required to re-submit documentation of their English proficiency, provided that they meet the EPE score specified by the relevant Graduate School:
- Have graduated from an undergraduate or graduate program of METU, or
- Have held student status for at least one semester in one of METU's graduate programs.
How to Apply
Applications must be submitted to the METU Graduate School of Natural and Applied Sciences.

Two (2) reference letters are required.
- For M.S. applications, reference letters are not required only for graduates of our own department.
- For Ph.D. applications (including graduates of our department), two letters are required — one must be from the M.S. thesis advisor.
- For Ph.D. on B.S. applications (including graduates of our department), two reference letters are required.
- 4. Letter of intention is required (included in the online application form).
- 5. If B.S. CGPA > 2.50, minimum ALES score is 70.
- 6. If B.S. CGPA is between 2.30 and 2.50, minimum ALES score is 75.
- 7. For Ph.D. applications, both undergraduate and graduate transcripts are required.
