Prof. Dr. Gürdal Tuncel (1952-2026)
Prof. Dr. Süleyman Gürdal Tuncel devoted nearly five decades of his academic life to environmental science, research, and his students. Having joined the METU Department of Environmental Engineering in 1987, he served the Department for many years and continued teaching and pursuing scientific research part-time until 2026. His work in atmospheric chemistry, environmental analytical chemistry, and pollutant transport left a lasting mark on the field through his research projects, publications, and the many students he supervised. His dedication to science and his valuable contributions to our Department will always be remembered with respect and gratitude.
