ABET Accreditation

The undergraduate degree program offered by the Environmental Engineering Department of METU has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET (Accreditation Board of Engineering and Technology). Further information is available on the ABET website .

A First in Turkey

The B.S. program in Environmental Engineering was the first environmental engineering program in Turkey to be evaluated by an international accreditation agency. In 2002, the program obtained substantial equivalency from ABET following an evaluation by the International Activities Committee. From 2007 onwards, the program has been accredited by the Engineering Accreditation Commission of ABET.

ABET accreditation provides assurance that a university program meets the quality standards established for the profession for which it prepares its graduates.

“Graduates from an ABET-accredited program have a solid educational foundation and are capable of leading the way in innovation, emerging technologies, and in anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.”
