Unit Operations Laboratory

Facilities for controlled experimentation in various unit operations involved in environmental engineering such as filtration, sedimentation and aeration. Units are equipped with measuring and control instrumentation for performance evaluation and flexible operation.
Chemistry Laboratory

Basic facilities for undertaking chemical, instrumental and other analyses routinely performed in environmental engineering and sciences. Also used for teaching purposes in related courses.
Microbiology Laboratory

Facilities for routine microbiological analysis, equipped with research instruments including respirometers, biological reactors and an AOX instrument. Used for teaching purposes in related courses.
Analysis Laboratory

Restricted to authorized personnel. Analyses are conducted for public institutions and private companies on a service basis.
Air Pollution Control Laboratory

Facilities for sampling and analysis of various air pollutants. Emission, immission and meteorological measurements can be carried out with the available equipment.
Student Computer Laboratory

Designed for graduate and undergraduate student use. 30 PCs connected to 2 servers and the campus network. Software packages available in water supply engineering, wastewater engineering, air pollution, soil and groundwater pollution, waste disposal and river pollution modeling.
Anaerobic Biotechnology Laboratory

Basic facilities and infrastructure for environmental anaerobic biotechnology research. Typical studies include biochemical methane potential analyses, treatability studies, granulation, and production of renewable energy and bio-based chemicals from wastes.
Water and Sewage Treatment Plants

An advanced biological treatment plant commissioned in 2003 through a joint project with Berlin Technical University. Designed to treat wastewaters from faculty housing and dormitories at 200 m³/day. The system combines biological treatment with a rotating vacuum membrane bio-reactor, producing a clear and sterile effluent used for lawn irrigation. The plant also serves as an experimental and demonstration unit for both graduate and undergraduate students, and received the Rio+20 Best Practice Examples on Sustainable Development award in 2012.
Contaminant Hydrology Laboratory

Contaminant characterization in surface waters, groundwater and soil. Experimental remediation studies and column experiments for transport of contaminants in subsurface environments.
Linux Laboratory

Designed for graduate student and research use. 10 PCs running Linux, with various software packages requiring high computational power available for users.
